Director’s Statement

MATTHEW Last year, myself and Jayden O'Neill (the project’s camera assistant and photographer) got the opportunity to document the Areyonga School's annual country trip to Mutitjulu. The community - elders and kids alike - were so warm, welcoming and always ready for a laugh. From digging for honey ants (which were amazingly delicious), sitting around the fire eating Kangaroo tail and listening to dreamtime stories, with the week culminating in an Inma ceremony, I'll always be thankful for this experience. To be there with the kids as they learnt from the elders felt really special.
